A cinematographer translates the director’s intent into pictures. Before the shoot they help choose cinema cameras, lenses, and lighting. On set they work with the camera operator, gaffer, and DIT so exposure, colour, and coverage stay consistent.
On a Nepal set
Typical work includes look references, lighting the scene, deciding when to move the camera or gimbal, and protecting footage so the video editor and colorist can work. On smaller Kathmandu crews the same person may operate the camera and light the scene — that is still cinematography, not “just filming.”
Hiring
When you hire through CineGrid, read the public profile, location (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and other cities), and gigs. Ask which cameras they already know. Pair them with camera rental if they do not own the body you want.
