How to choose a camera for filmmaking in Nepal

Choose a cinema or mirrorless camera from the job, the lenses you can rent in Kathmandu, and the cinematographer or videographer you hire — not from a spec sheet.

Start with the job. Interviews need autofocus and clean audio. Music videos may need high frame rates. Features need a codec your colorist can handle. Then see which bodies CineGrid vendors list in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Pokhara, and which cameras your DP already knows.

Mount and lenses often cost more than the body. If the city has Sony E-mount glass for rent, a Sony body is easier to support. Rent before you buy. A weekend on an FX3, C70, or BMPCC with a real videographer or cinematographer teaches more than a chart.
