DSLR vs mirrorless for video in Nepal

Mirrorless cameras have largely replaced DSLRs for video. See camera rental and cameras for sale in Kathmandu, and videographers who use them, on CineGrid.

A DSLR uses a mirror and optical viewfinder. A mirrorless camera shows the sensor in the finder or on the screen. For video, mirrorless is usually better: quieter shooting, better autofocus while recording, smaller gimbals. Most new Nepal productions use Sony, Canon, or Fujifilm mirrorless, or a cinema camera.

If you already own DSLR lenses, check the adapter and autofocus. For a first video camera, look at what rental vendors in Kathmandu actually stock — batteries and support beat a spec sheet. A videographer or photographer on CineGrid can tell you what they already know how to run.
