A prime has one focal length (35mm, 50mm, 85mm). A zoom covers a range (24–70mm, 70–200mm). Primes are often faster and lighter. Zooms save changes when the camera cannot move. Narrative and music videos in Nepal often mix a small prime set with one zoom; events lean on zooms.
Match the mount (Sony E, Canon RF, PL) to the camera before you book lens rental. If you are unsure, rent a 24–70 or a 35/50/85 trio for a day with the DP.
